why you need to eat raw chocolate: ft. the raw chocolate co

So I discovered raw chocolate 2 years ago at the Natural health & wellbeing festival, conscious chocolate were giving away free samples to try... instantly I fell in love. I have always been a huge fan of chocolate, white, milk, dark, fruity, minty and nutty! But I hated what it was doing to my body it would always make me break out, often I'd have palpitations after a bar... or two!

This is why I love raw chocolate. It is a little more expensive but it's good for you! Imagine eating a bar of luxuriously delicious chocolate and feeling absolutely no regrets or guilt?

Here are some facts about raw chocolate it has more antioxidants than green tea. It contains high amounts of calcium, iron, carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, magnesium and protein! Which are all good for the brain. It helps with digestion. It can lower blood pressure. Its good for the heart. Its high in fibre and B vitamins. It contains a lot of caffeine so it's a healthier option to your morning coffee, an excuse the have chocolate for breakfast? Most of all it tastes AMAZING. I have given it to many friends who can't believe it's refined sugar free! I will say you should still eat raw chocolate in moderation, it's worth making the switch.

One of my favourite brands is the raw chocolate co offering a range of six flavours, in two sizes 22g and 44g they have plenty to choose from. They also offer a range of super foods and the products to make your own chocolate. If you spend more than £30 you'll get free delivery it's not hard to choose £30 worth of chocolate. I often buy the mixed boxes as I enjoy all flavours. But my favourite two are vanoffe and vanoffe dark. I love creamy chocolate and these are both really creamy tasting.

Vanoffe It's supposed to taste like white chocolate I am not a huge fan of white chocolate they are often to sweet and sicky. This does have that white chocolate taste but minus the sickly feeling after digestion.

Vanoffe dark This for me is like a milk chocolate, creamy, strong and just amazing one of my favourites.

Orange who likes terry's chocolate orange? um, everyone! this is that but one thousand times better, slightly on the darker side, with 70% cacao I really hope one day they will make and orange with less cacao as I feel more people would like that as a lot of people don't like that dark chocolate taste!

Mint with xylitol Oh I love a minty bar of chocolate especially after dinner, it contains a fair amount of minty but isn't to overpowering this is 70% cacao and rightly so, I think a creamier mint chocolate bar just wouldn't taste right.

Pitch dark For those who like it on the dark side, buy it you must... with 70% cacao and no flavour this is nice and bitter with a slight sweet edge, mmm! 

Goji & orange This is gorgeous, very dark, with a hint of spice from the goji's.
